The truth is that it’s actually vital for a child to come in to visit the orthodontist at an early age. This visit can provide many benefits for a child and offer him or her a much brighter orthodontic future.
The Perfect Age for Early Treatment
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that a child receive his or her first orthodontic screening at the age of seven. Due to the molars erupting at about this age, this is the earliest time that we can address a patient’s front-to-back and side-to-side tooth relationships. By performing a screening at this time, we’re able to recognize potential problems at an early age and then correct them before they become any more serious. In the long run, this will save you and your child time and also money.
Your Child’s First Visit
During your child’s initial visit with us, we’ll determine if there are any problems that need to be addressed. This can include potential crowding, overbites, or gummy smiles. It’s entirely possible that treatment isn’t necessary at this time or at all. However, if treatment is necessary, we’ll then create a customized and personalized plan that will be most beneficial for your child’s specific case.

We have had four family members use Dr. Caraway over the course of 8 years. In the beginning, customer service was fantastic, we loved the orthodontist, and we were very pleased with the results. However, over the past year, there has been a significant decrease in customer service, and overall experience. They never answer their phone. When they do receive a voicemail from us, they always call us back at 5 PM on Thursday, when they close all day Friday.Today I brought that to their attention and I was pleased with the result. They understood there was an issue with the phones, and they have had a staffing turnover. They took the time to talk to me about the issues that I had, let me know what was going on, and wanted to make it right. I appreciated that response. When you go from always being listened to, to being completely ignored, it doesn’t feel good. From what I can see, they’re going to make it right and that is excellent! I appreciate them accepting the constructive criticism and going the extra mile to make it better. Thank you!
